The Rotary Club of Yass was recently gifted a mobility scooter through our old friend from Belconnen Rotary, Fred Fawke and to be used by us as we see fit.
After exhausting several options in the community care facilities as a short term solution - it became very obvious who would benefit greatly - Honorary Member, David Staines.
David’s outstanding contribution to the club since the early 1980’s and his service to the country in the Navy has earned him plenty of notches in his belt. In recent times David has struggled with health challenges and with the recent impairment of vision stripped him of his licence and independence.
David was delighted when approached by Yass Rotary, for the loan of the mobility scooter. His newly found freedoms has him zooming all over town - be sure to give him a wave when you see him out and about.
David’s latest scooter adventure was to the Yass River Markets last Sunday to visit his son’s stall- whilst there he also managed to locate the blueberry ice cream vendor.
